Iyengar Yoga

No matter what your age is, it is good to learn Iyengar yoga. Named after BKS Iyengar, the Indian yoga guru, it the best fitness mantra for life. Over a period of time the renowned guru developed s series of precision poses and use of props to make yoga more comfortable. I its purest form, this method follow the 2500-year-old Patanjali style. BKS Iyengar reinvented the same with the help of various props. They include benches, bricks, and sandbags and even bolsters. The idea was to let students get 100 benefits of the postures they were doing. We have teachers who demonstrate the right posture with the breathing technique. It helps students to understand how it works. Each person works according to their capacity and there is no competition to outdo anyone else in class.

It is wrong to differentiate traditional yoga Iyengar Yoga, as it is also not fair to brand Yoga, as Raja-yoga, Hatha-yoga, Laya-yoga, Kundalini-yoga, Taraka-yoga and so forth. There is no distinction between one type of yoga and another. Yoga, like God is one.”

There is no quick fix to any health problem. Mobility of the body, strength and poise come for regular performance of the postures. Those who do yoga regularly eat better, sleep better and have an overall sense of being one with the universe.
